Parent Support & Consultation
Short-term or ongoing support for parents and caregivers navigating questions about behavior, development, regulation, and relationships—especially in early childhood.
About Parent Support & Consultation
Parent consultation provides developmentally informed support for parents and caregivers navigating questions about behavior, regulation, and emotions—especially in early childhood. The focus is on slowing things down to understand what’s happening in your child’s world and what their behavior may be trying to communicate.
Sessions center development, regulation, and relationship, with close attention to the intensity and complexity of early caregiving. The goal isn’t to get parenting “right,” but to feel more grounded, supported, and intentional in how you respond.
Who This Is For
This work is for parents and caregivers of infants and young children who find themselves asking, “What’s going on here?”—about their child, about themselves, or about the relationship between the two. Many parents reach out when caregiving starts to feel more intense, confusing, or heavier than they expected.
Parent consultation may be a good fit if you’re navigating:
Frequent meltdowns, shutdowns, or big emotional reactions
Questions about development, regulation, or attachment
Transitions like new siblings, childcare, or changes in routine
Feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or unsure how to respond
Wanting thoughtful support without entering formal therapy
What We Might Work On
Parents often come in with a mix of questions, observations, and concerns that don’t fit neatly into one category. This work creates space to slow things down and think together about what’s happening in real time.
We might focus on:
Big feelings that feel constant or hard to contain
Behavior that feels confusing or unpredictable
Developmental stages that seem harder than expected
Transitions that disrupt regulation or routines
Moments where you feel reactive, unsure, or stuck
Finding steadier ways to respond in the middle of stress
How Sessions Work
Parent consultation is designed to help parents better understand their child’s behavior and development, especially during periods that feel intense or confusing. Sessions are parent-only and focus on how regulation, stress, routines, and transitions are shaping day-to-day interactions.
Consultation begins with an initial session to understand your concerns and your child’s developmental context. Sessions then continue over time to support deeper understanding and more intentional responses as patterns become clearer.
The work is practical and grounded, focused on helping parents and caregivers feel more confident in how they understand and respond to their child.
Parent consultation offers developmentally informed support for caregivers and is separate from psychotherapy.

Parent consultation is private pay and is not billed to insurance.
-
Parent consultation is parent-focused and developmental.
This work centers on understanding your child’s behavior and emotional development, and on helping you think differently about how to respond in ways that support regulation and connection. Consultation is a focused, time-limited service rather than an ongoing treatment relationship.
I am a licensed therapist, and consultation can also help families determine whether psychotherapy—for a parent, a child, or the parent–child relationship—may be helpful. Next steps or referrals are discussed when appropriate.

Consultation begins with an initial session to understand your concerns and your child’s developmental context.
Follow-up sessions focus on noticing patterns, supporting regulation, and offering practical, developmentally appropriate guidance you can apply at home. The process is collaborative and tailored to your family’s needs.
-
Session frequency is flexible and guided by your goals.
Many families begin with 2–4 sessions to build understanding and momentum, then adjust frequency or schedule check-ins as needed.

I’ve found that meaningful change for children most often happens by supporting the adults who care for them—especially around everyday routines, limits, and transitions where challenges tend to arise. Consultation helps parents understand what’s beneath their child’s behavior and how to respond in ways that support regulation and connection.
